The next day, Vince swept the yard early. Many dried mango leaves had fallen. He gathered the leaves and put them in a plastic garbage bag.

But that was just Vince’s way. His real goal was to meet Margie’s husband, who suddenly arrived yesterday. He was sure it was Margie’s husband who came yesterday.

But after Vince cleaned all the scattered leaves in the yard, Margie’s husband still hadn’t come out of the house. Even Margie didn’t come out. They were probably still sleeping. Both stayed up late. Vince smiled.

Vince then took care of watering the plants. He thought, surely, Margie’s husband would come out before he finished watering.

Vince’s guess was right. Just as he finished watering, Margie’s husband came out of the house.

Vince and Margie’s husband looked at each other. The latter greeted Vince first.

“Good morning,” he said.

“Hi! Good morning,” Vince replied.

“I’m Renan.”

“Vince.”

“How are you, Vince?”

“I’m fine, Renan.”

“So you’re the owner of that house.”

“Yes, Renan. When did you arrive?”

“Just yesterday.”

“Ah.”

“Was the trip okay?”

“It was fine.”

“How many hours was the flight from Saudi to Manila, Renan?”

“Eight hours.”

“That’s a long time.”

“Yes. It’s tiring.”

“How many days is your vacation, Renan?”

“Thirty days.”

“That’s quite short, isn’t it?”

“Yes, Vince.”

“So it’s really hard to be an OFW, huh?”

“Very hard, Vince. By the way, let’s have a drink one day, okay?”

“Sure, Renan.”
