— actress, singer, influencer, “PBB” Big Winner, and now, book author.

The multi-hyphenate artist launched her debut children’s book “Lipad” at the Manila International Book Festival (MIBF) at the SMX Convention Center on Friday.

At the event, Mika read the book to a crowd of fans. Afterwards, she held a book signing and meet and greet.

“I am so happy,” Mika said after the book reading. “I am so thrilled that it’s finally here, and finally, it will be available for people and we will be able to help more children.”

Mika also expressed her gratitude that the book launch was attended by kids and adults alike.

“Lipad” tells the story of a diwata named Mahika, who is insecure because her wings are different from the rest.

According to Mika, the character was inspired by herself.

“Mahika symbolizes who I was at the time when I was still afraid, when I was still a child or just beginning to bloom in the world,” she said.

She added that Mahika meets another character who helps her in her journey.

“She is a combination of all the people who helped me, all the challenges and the history of Mahika’s life, which is why she is stronger than Mahika.”

Mika hopes that the book would encourage people to embrace what makes them unique.

“You would be sadder if you weren’t different. Everyone has differences. Even in a strand of your hair, even in your mole, people are different,” she said.

“If you don’t yet have the confidence to fly, walk first and find someone to accompany you. Because this journey is long but joyful.”

Mika was among the 20 housemates of “PBB.” She finished as the season’s Big Winner alongside her Kapamilya duo Brent Manalo.
