A 55-year-old company employee has been arrested on suspicion of placing “rocks” on the tracks of the Meitetsu Komaki Line.

The arrested suspect is a 55-year-old man from Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture.

According to police, the suspect allegedly placed rocks on the tracks near a railroad crossing in Komaki City in May, causing a train to collide with them and forcing an emergency stop. He is suspected of endangering traffic and obstructing business operations.

No passengers or crew members were injured.

During police questioning, the suspect admitted to the allegations, stating, “It’s true,” and confessed to placing rocks on the tracks multiple times.

Since December of last year, seven other incidents of rocks being placed on the tracks have been reported in Komaki City and Inuyama City. Police are investigating further possible offenses.

Meitetsu Komaki Line

The Meitetsu Komaki Line is a railway line in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, operated by Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu). It connects Kamiiida Station in Nagoya with Inuyama Station, serving areas like Komaki and covering approximately 21.5 kilometers. Opened in 1900, it originally supported local industry and transport, later becoming an important commuter route in the region.
