TRIPOLI, December 25, 2025 — The committee formed by a decision from the Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity has begun its duties to investigate the incident of the plane crash that was carrying the Chief of General Staff, First Lieutenant Mohammed Al-Haddad, and his companions, in coordination and cooperation with the Turkish authorities.
The Criminal Investigation Department explained, in a post on its official page on Wednesday evening, that the committee is headed by the head of the department, Major General Mahmoud Al-Ajili, noting that a specialized team continues to complete the necessary procedures to transfer the bodies of the deceased to their homeland, along with taking DNA samples and comparing them with samples from their relatives according to approved standards.
The committee’s duties include search and investigation work regarding the plane wreckage, as part of completing the investigation proceedings, and uncovering all the circumstances of the incident according to the same source.
It is noted that the plane crash incident resulted in the death of the Chief of General Staff, First Lieutenant Mohammed Al-Haddad, in addition to the commander of the ground forces affiliated with the Government of National Unity, Staff Lieutenant General Al-Fitouri Gharibil, the Director of Military Manufacturing, Brigadier General Mahmoud Jumaa Al-Qatwi, the advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Al-Asawi, and the photographer Mohammed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub.
