Approximately 30 female middle and high school students from schools within and outside the prefecture participated in an office tour at Kyocera’s research facility, the Minato Mirai Research Center, located in Nishi Ward, Yokohama City. The event allowed them to interact with female employees active in science and engineering fields, including researchers and engineers from the company.

Kyocera

It initially specialized in fine ceramic components before expanding into a wide range of products, including semiconductors, electronic devices, and solar power systems. Minato Mirai Research Center

The Minato Mirai Research Center is a modern facility located in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai 21 district, a major urban redevelopment area built on former shipyards. It serves as a hub for corporate and academic research, reflecting the area’s transformation from industrial port to a center for innovation and technology.

Nishi Ward

Nishi Ward is one of the 10 wards of Yokohama, Japan, primarily known as a major commercial and business center. Historically, it was a collection of small farming and fishing villages before being incorporated into Yokohama and undergoing significant development in the 20th century. It is now home to major landmarks like the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Yokohama Building and the vibrant Chinatown.
