The art festival “Koganecho Bazaar + Kamiooka Bazaar 2025 Passing Through We Meet Along the Way,” themed around the relationship between art and community and exchange with Asia, has been running since September 11th.

This year, in addition to the Koganecho area, the Kamiooka area will also serve as a venue, featuring exhibitions by approximately 25 groups of artists.

The Koganecho area venues include studios under the viaduct between Keikyu Line’s Hinodecho Station and Koganecho Station, as well as surrounding studios. The Kamiooka area venue is the Keikyu Department Store · Wing Kamiooka.

The lineup includes international artists from East and Southeast Asia, such as Yoon Sangha, who graduated from the Modern Sculpture and Media major at Chonnam National University’s College of Arts in Gwangju, South Korea, and Tran Tao Mien, who is based in Hanoi. It also features domestic artists, including Eriko Masaki, who, after completing studies at the Tokyo Glass Art Institute’s research program, works with glass while honing her skills in its craft aspects, and Marika Takanashi, a graduate of the Composite Arts program at Akita University of Art’s Graduate School.

The director commented, “This exhibition creates two simultaneous exhibitions through the artists moving between Keikyu Line stations and the spaces between them. This represents an engagement with two local communities. For the artist community, it is a catalyst for change, and for the local communities, it might be an opportunity, through the exhibition, to think about connecting these two areas.”

Operating hours are: Koganecho Venue = 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, closed Thursdays (except September 11th); Kamiooka Venue = 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (no closure during the event period). The “Koganecho Bazaar 2025 Passport,” which serves as the admission ticket for the Koganecho venue, costs 1,000 yen (free for high school students and younger) and allows for multiple entries throughout the event period. Admission to the Kamiooka venue is free. The free pass includes a 300-yen discount coupon usable at local restaurants and other establishments, as well as a 300-yen discount coupon usable at the Keikyu Department Store. The event runs until October 31st.
