The bear footprints were found in a field along a prefectural road near Kyowa, Chitose City.
According to authorities, around 7:30 a.m. on the 26th, the owner of the field noticed the footprints and reported it to the city office.
The field owner told police, “I found bear footprints while working on the farm.”
The footprints measured approximately 20 cm in length and 15 cm in width, and city officials confirmed they belonged to a bear.
Although there was no crop damage, multiple footprints were found leading south from the field.
Police are warning people to be cautious of potential bear encounters.
