It has been decided that Noto Satoyama Airport will undergo a renewal opening as the world’s first airport bearing the Pokémon name, NOTO SATOYAMA POKÉMON with YOU AIRPORT! This will be a limited-time initiative running from Tuesday, July 7, 2026, to the end of September 2029.

Ishikawa Prefecture and the Pokémon with YOU Foundation are moving forward with initiatives aimed at bringing smiles to the disaster-stricken areas of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. As part of these initiatives, Noto Airport will experience a renewal opening on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, as the first airport bearing the Pokémon name, NOTO SATOYAMA POKÉMON with YOU AIRPORT!

In conjunction with the renewal, the inside of the airport will be decorated with various Pokémon!

The airport’s exclusive logo is a bright and gorgeous design filled with the desire to deliver cheer. With Poké Balls and Pikachu as motifs, it incorporates the topography of the Noto Peninsula as well as the smiles of local residents and travelers.

In the 2nd floor atrium area, there will be a large Pikachu and airplane balloon that will serve as the symbol of the airport. Countless Pokémon will soar comfortably through the air around it. Including this atrium area, the airport premises will be decorated with all 111 Flying-type Pokémon discovered as of May 2026!

The 1st floor arrival lobby will feature a large-scale decoration designed with the Bright Future art, which was created in 2024 to support the recovery of Noto. The Pikachu, Plusle, and Minun depicted at the center of the artwork will become 3D monuments.
The logo mark will also be designed on the upper part of the airport’s exterior. Pokémon will line up all along the pillars at the airport entrance, creating a sense of excitement for the start of a journey.

Noto Satoyama Airport is a small regional airport located in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, which opened in 2003 to improve access to the Noto Peninsula. Its name reflects the surrounding satoyama landscape—a traditional Japanese mosaic of forests, farmland, and villages—and the airport was designed to harmonize with this cultural and natural environment. Despite its scenic setting, the airport has faced challenges with low passenger numbers and was temporarily closed after the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake.

The airport features Pokémon character decorations, a special “Pikachu” check-in counter, and a play area, blending local Satoyama culture with the beloved franchise. It aims to attract visitors by offering a whimsical, family-friendly experience while supporting the region’s revitalization.
