On the afternoon of the 3rd, the bodies of two men were found inside a car submerged in the sea at a fishing port in Shima City, Mie Prefecture. The two were a 78-year-old and a 50-year-old father and son. Police are investigating the details of the incident.
According to police, around 12:30 p.m. on the 3rd, a fisheries worker at Fukaya Fishing Port in Katada, Shima Town, Shima City, discovered a small passenger car submerged in the sea.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene confirmed the two bodies inside the vehicle.
The deceased were identified as Shigetoshi Kato (78), a resident of Higashiura Town, Aichi Prefecture, and his son Hideaki (50).
The two were found fully clothed with no visible external injuries.
Police have recovered the car and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall into the sea.
