A series of suspicious fires in Nagoya: a residential mailbox and a vending machine trash can about 100 meters away at a company were set ablaze; a lit towel was found in the mailbox.

According to police, around 6:30 AM today, a male resident discovered a mailbox at the entrance of a residence in Nishiku Yasujimachi burning and reported it to emergency services.

A lit towel had been stuffed into the mailbox. The man extinguished the fire himself, and there were no injuries.

Additionally, about 30 minutes later, just after 7:00 AM, a suspicious fire occurred about 100 meters to the southwest where a company’s trash can was set on fire. Police officers who arrived at the scene in response to a report from a passerby extinguished the flames. Police are investigating a possible connection between the two suspicious fires.
