On the evening of the 23rd, an accident occurred at Meitetsu’s “Sanno Station” in Nakagawa Ward, Nagoya City, where a person was struck by a passing train. The incident overlapped with the evening rush hour, causing temporary chaos at the nearest major station.

Around 4:50 p.m. on the 23rd, a 26-year-old man from Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, was hit and killed by a semi-express train bound for Chubu Centrair International Airport on the premises of Meitetsu’s “Sanno Station” in Nakagawa Ward, Nagoya City.

According to Meitetsu, the train was passing through the station. Just before entering the station, the driver saw the man jump from the platform onto the tracks and applied the brakes, but it was too late.

No passengers were injured.

Due to the accident, train operations on the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line between Narumi and Sakue, and on the Inuyama Line between Higashi-Biwajima and Shimo-Otai, were suspended for nearly two hours in both directions.

Because the incident occurred during the evening rush hour, Kanayama General Station was temporarily overcrowded, with people overflowing from the premises.
