The feelings of the parents of a 13-year-old boy who died suddenly after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The regret that remains and new worries.

A couple from Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Four and a half years ago, their son passed away at the age of 13.

“If he were healthy, he would be a high school senior this year. He might have been almost as tall as his father.”

“He probably would have grown tall.”

“When his classmates come to visit, seeing how they’ve grown, I think our son would have grown up like that too. It makes me happy when they come. That feeling is definitely there, but sometimes it suddenly crosses my mind: why isn’t our son here?”
