U.S. President Donald Trump announced further steps in Middle East peace efforts.

Trump stated that Israel and Hamas have finally reached an agreement to begin the first phase of the peace plan in Gaza.

Trump described the agreement as an initial step toward more permanent peace in the long-troubled region.

“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our Peace Plan,” said Trump.

Trump continued, stating that through this first-phase agreement, all remaining hostages will be released immediately.

Additionally, Israeli troops will withdraw from Gaza to areas mutually designated as part of initial steps toward peace.

“This means all hostages will be freed immediately, and Israel will withdraw its troops to agreed-upon lines as a first step toward a Strong, Lasting, and Permanent Peace,” wrote Trump.

The agreement was also confirmed by international mediators, including the Qatari government which played an active role in the negotiation process.

“Mediators announced that an agreement has been reached tonight on all terms and implementation mechanisms for the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which will lead to the end of the war, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the entry of aid. Details will be announced later,” said a spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs through their official X account.

Israel

Israel is a historic crossroads of civilizations and the ancient homeland of the Jewish people, with a recorded history spanning over three millennia. It is the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity and holds significant sites for Islam, making it a region of profound religious importance. Established as a modern state in 1948, it is located in the Middle East on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea.

Gaza

Gaza is a historic coastal city located in the Palestinian territories, with a rich history dating back over 3,000 years as a strategic Mediterranean trading hub. It has been ruled by various empires, including the Egyptians, Philistines, Romans, and Ottomans. Today, it is part of the Gaza Strip, a densely populated region that has faced significant political and humanitarian challenges in recent decades.

Hamas

“Hamas” is not a place or cultural site; it is a Palestinian political and military organization founded in 1987. It emerged as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood during the First Intifada, a Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation. The group has governed the Gaza Strip since 2007 and is designated as a terrorist organization by several countries.

Qatari government

The Qatari government is a hereditary constitutional monarchy, led by the Emir from the Al Thani family. Its modern structure was established after Qatar’s independence from Britain in 1971, and it has since been developing its political institutions, including an advisory Consultative Assembly (Majlis al-Shura). The government oversees the nation’s transformation, fueled by its vast natural gas and oil resources.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the government body responsible for managing the nation’s diplomatic relations and international affairs. Historically, the ministry’s role has grown in prominence alongside Qatar’s rising global influence, particularly in the 21st century, as the country has become a key mediator in regional conflicts and a host for major international events. It plays a central role in executing Qatar’s foreign policy, which emphasizes diplomacy and strategic international partnerships.
