Starting from the 2026/2027 school year, students at public elementary and junior high schools in South Tangerang City will receive free school uniforms, including batik uniforms and sports clothing.
The program is a form of local government attention to help ease the burden on parents in meeting their children’s educational needs amid the current economic conditions.
“We see the current economic situation. This is a form of attention from the South Tangerang City Government to help and ease the burden on the community. Thankfully, the response from parents has been very positive. Although they hope all uniforms can be free, we ask for prayers and support so that this can be realized in the future,” the deputy mayor said.
Free uniform assistance will be given to first and fourth grade elementary school students, as well as seventh grade junior high school students, for the upcoming new school year.
“The uniforms provided are batik uniforms and sports clothing. Hopefully, this program can help reduce parents’ expenses when entering the new school year,” he said.
The funding for this program comes from the allocated Regional School Operational Assistance budget of South Tangerang City to support students’ educational needs.
“The budget comes from the Regional School Operational Assistance. We allocate additional funds for the procurement of batik and sports uniforms. In the future, if the budget capacity improves and the regional budget becomes stronger, we will strive to allocate funds for all school uniform needs,” he explained.
The free uniform program will begin implementation in the 2026/2027 school year and will be distributed directly through each school.
“They will be distributed through each school. God willing, starting this year, when the new school year begins around July, the students will already receive the uniforms,” he concluded.
