TANGERANG – The spirit of mutual cooperation and care for others, consistently ongoing since 2023, continues to be promoted by alumni from various graduating classes of SMUN 5/6 Tangerang City. Through a routine initiative called “Blessed Friday,” alumni provided basic food aid to the RC Badak Humanitarian Emergency Response Shelter Foundation (RC Badak) on Friday (05/29) at the RC Badak shelter in Sukarasa Village, Tangerang District.
This humanitarian action aims to supplement food supplies for volunteers and patients. Donors from various graduating classes continuously raise funds to be distributed to those in need.
This initiative is not just a weekly routine. Besides rice, cooking oil, and eggs, the aid collected from donors targets various community segments. This includes underprivileged families and those who dedicate their lives to public service, as well as providing lunch to worshippers after Friday prayers.
An Action That Goes Beyond Friday
“The Blessed Friday activities are not only held on regular days. SMUN 5/6 Tangerang City alumni are also highly adaptive to major holidays. During the holy month of Ramadan, for example, the focus of aid distribution was directed to several orphanages in the Tangerang City area to ease the burden on orphans,” explained Asep.
The man, who now dedicates his life to the Tangerang City Government, added that a spirit of nationalism is also shown during national holidays. One notable action was a visit to the Taruna Heroes Cemetery (TMP) in Tangerang City. There, alumni distributed basic food packages to the cemetery caretakers and cleaning staff who maintain this sacred area daily.
“This is our form of appreciation. They are the front line in preserving the history and resting place of our heroes in Tangerang City,” said the man who previously studied at SMAN 5, now renamed SMAN 6 Tangerang City.
Hope for a Ripple Effect of Kindness
Through this initiative, which has been running for three years, the organizers of the SMUN 5/6 Blessed Friday hope that similar actions will not stop among alumni. There is a great hope that this spirit of sharing will spread to other communities, including alumni associations from other schools and various social groups in Tangerang City.
“We hope that the small action we started in 2023 can be a spark. Hopefully, more communities in Tangerang City will be moved to carry out similar activities. The more people share, the wider the impact on those in need,” expressed Asep.
This social action proves that alumni bonds are not just about nostalgia, but can become a strategic platform for providing real contributions and consistent social impact on the surrounding environment.
