Gallery
A gallery is a space, often within a museum or a dedicated building, designed for the display and appreciation of art, such as paintings, sculptures, and photographs. The concept of the art gallery emerged during the Renaissance, when wealthy patrons and aristocrats began creating private “cabinets of curiosities” and long corridors (or *gallerie*) to showcase their collections. Today, galleries serve both as public cultural institutions that preserve and exhibit art history, and as commercial spaces where artists can sell their work.
