Two Thai companies have announced plans to construct a bridge connecting two islands in southern Thailand, aiming to boost tourism and improve transportation between the islands.

The project, estimated to cost several billion baht, is expected to take approximately three years to complete once construction begins. The bridge will span approximately 2.5 kilometers, connecting the two islands with a four-lane road.

Company representatives stated the bridge will significantly reduce travel time between the islands, currently only accessible by ferry, and is expected to attract more tourists to the region. Local businesses have expressed support for the project, anticipating increased economic activity.

Environmental impact assessments are currently underway, with companies pledging to minimize ecological disruption. The bridge design includes features to allow marine life passage and reduce environmental footprint.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2025, pending regulatory approvals and environmental clearance.
