Cheers and fighting spirit filled the State University of Surabaya last weekend. In that arena, students from Wijaya Putra University proved that hard work and discipline can yield proud achievements at the national level.

At the UNESA Challenge Competition III 2025 National Pencak Silat Championship, held on December 20–21, 2025, the young UWP silat fighters performed with full determination. As a result, the UWP team successfully brought home four medals, consisting of two golds, one silver, and one bronze.

Two gold medals were contributed by Ratu Miranda C.P., a Management student who competed in Class H, and Bintang Putra A., a Psychology student who triumphed in Class I. Both performed dominantly from the preliminary rounds to the final match, showing mature technique and strong competitive mentality.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Dafa’udi from the Law study program had to settle for second place and won a silver medal in Class A after a fierce duel in the final match. Muhamad Zaky, a Mechanical Engineering student competing in Class B, completed UWP’s achievement haul with a bronze medal.

Interestingly, this success is not just about the medals. The athletes’ achievements show that the potential for excellence is evenly distributed across various study programs. From Management, Psychology, Law, to Mechanical Engineering, all are capable of competing and achieving at the national level.

The national championship organized by the State University of Surabaya was attended by hundreds of the best silat fighters from various universities and clubs across Indonesia. The intense competition posed its own challenge, but the UWP athletes were able to answer it with solid technique, strategy, and fighting spirit.

The Vice Rector III of UWP appreciated this achievement. She considered this accomplishment the result of a long process and shared commitment.

“We are very grateful and proud of the extraordinary achievement of the athletes. This is tangible proof of hard work, disciplined training, and an indefatigable spirit supported by the coaches and the entire UWP academic community,” she said.

According to her, this achievement in pencak silat also affirms that UWP not only focuses on academic development but is also serious about nurturing students’ non-academic potential, particularly in sports and the preservation of national culture.

This success is hoped to ignite the spirit of other UWP students to continue achieving in various fields. Furthermore, UWP is committed to strengthening the extracurricular coaching of pencak silat to produce more achieving athletes, not only at the national but also the international level.
