The Mayor of Medan led the opening ceremony of the 126th TNI Manunggal Membangun Desa (TMMD) program in Medan City for 2025 on Wednesday.

The opening ceremony, held at Rengas Pulau Field in Medan Marelan District, was marked by the signing of the official minutes followed by the handover of work equipment to representatives of the personnel who will be assigned.

In front of ceremony participants consisting of military personnel, police, and city government officials, it was stated that the TMMD program demonstrates the importance of synergy between the government, military, and community in creating real impact in regional development.

This program also shows how important simplicity is when combined with the spirit of mutual cooperation.

“Through the TMMD program, we learn that building is not just about infrastructure, but also about character and the spirit of togetherness in making Medan a blessed, advanced, and sustainable city,” it was said.

On this occasion, it was also conveyed that the city government remains committed to building this beloved city of Medan, including in the Medan Marelan area.

A number of development programs have been implemented in Medan Marelan District, such as educational programs to improve waste management efficiency and its utilization as environmentally friendly energy sources. Also, sustainable infrastructure development including repairs to three road sections in Environment 9, Terjun Village, as well as Sedar Road and Gang Lorong Bersatu in Environment 17, Medan Marelan District.

“These steps demonstrate the seriousness of the city government to continue driving development in every corner of the city. We want every citizen to feel the presence of the government in their daily lives,” it was explained.

With synergy between the government, military, and community, it is believed that all programs will be more effective and precisely targeted.

“When we move together, every drop of sweat becomes an investment for the future of an advanced and sustainable Medan. This is the spirit of Medan for All that we consistently implement, because only through togetherness can we achieve equitable prosperity,” it was stated.

It was also mentioned that this year’s TMMD program targets include 260 meters of concrete paving on Pasar Nippon Road, Paya Pasir Village, Medan Marelan District. Additionally, the installation of 19 meters of wire gabions at the same location to strengthen drainage structures and environmental protection.

This is considered not merely physical work, but a tangible manifestation of the spirit of synergy between the government and military for community welfare.

“We want this work to be carried out with full responsibility and dedication. Because every meter of road built will facilitate economic access and beautify Medan City, and every reinforced wall represents our environmental resilience,” it was stated.

However, it was also recognized that physical development must be accompanied by moral development. Therefore, a message was conveyed to all community members to avoid all negative behaviors such as drugs, gambling, or other activities that provide no benefit.

“Specifically to parents, I urge you to pay attention to our children’s education and social circles. Don’t let them be swept up in the negative currents of the modern world. With the supervision and affection we provide, we can create a strong and noble generation,” was the message while reminding the Medan Marelan community to maintain and care for the infrastructure that has been built.

The 126th TMMD will last for one month involving 150 personnel consisting of military, police, and city government elements.

Also present at the opening ceremony were the Deputy Mayor of Medan; the District Military Commander; the Chief Prosecutor of Medan; other regional leadership forum representatives who attended; the City Secretary of Medan; regional apparatus leaders within the city government environment; and district heads throughout Medan City.
