An event in North Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency turned into a horrific incident. Five members of a sisingaan performance group were electrocuted while pulling the sisingaan sound system.
The incident occurred in Kampung Cibeureum RT 03/RW 03, Mekarmukti Village, North Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Three people were reported dead and two others suffered burns due to the incident.
Police are still investigating the exact cause of the incident. The initial suspicion points to electrical cables in the vicinity of the location.
Moments of the Incident, Residents in Hysteria
The incident was captured on amateur video and went viral on social media. In the circulating video, the sisingaan art performance group is seen initially pushing a sound system cart over 2 meters high.
At first, the art performance proceeded smoothly. However, suddenly the group was electrocuted.
The victims, who were on the road, caused the atmosphere to suddenly turn into panic.
This incident immediately made residents watching on the roadside scream hysterically. The victims were seen lying on the asphalt.
“Oh God… oh God,” residents shouted.
Sequence of Events
The police chief explained that the incident began when the sisingaan group was about to resume walking after a rest. One member who was on top of the sound system allegedly tried to lift an electrical cable using his hand.
The electric current then allegedly spread to several people around the iron-made structure. In the circulating video, several people are seen collapsing after being electrocuted.
Three Dead and Two Injured
The police chief stated that five people were electrocuted. Three of them died.
“As a result of the incident, three people died, namely G (18), J (20), and R (29),” said the police chief on Wednesday (June 3).
Meanwhile, two other people, R (18) and R M (22), suffered burns. Both have been taken to Radjak Cibeureum Hospital, North Cikarang, for medical treatment.
The police chief also visited the victims being treated at Radjak Cibeureum Hospital as a form of attention and concern for the victims and affected families. He also ensured the victims received necessary medical care.
“Police officers have arrived at the location, conducted a crime scene check, set up police lines, gathered statements from several witnesses, and coordinated with the hospital. The Bekasi Metro Police Inafis team has also processed the crime scene to collect initial evidence,” he said.
