No More Acting Chief Permits, PWI Central Ends Dualism in West Java

JAKARTA – The Central Board of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) has lifted the suspension of the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 term. The revocation is stipulated in Decree No. 373-PLP/PP-PWI/2025 regarding the Revocation of the Central Board of the Indonesian Journalists Association Decree No. 320.PLP/PP-PWI concerning the Suspension of the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 Term and All Its Amendments.

The decree, dated August 1, 2025, establishes two key points.

First, it revokes Central PWI Board Decree No. 320-PLP/PP-PWI/2025 dated March 21, 2025, regarding the Suspension of the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 term, as well as Central PWI Board Decree No. 323-PLP/PP-PWI/2025 dated April 22, 2025, concerning the Refinement of the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 term, rendering them null and void.

Second, it reinstates the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 term as per Central PWI Board Decree No. 266-PGS/PP-PWI/2021 dated September 3, 2021, regarding the Ratification of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Board for the 2021-2026 term, which was last amended by Central PWI Board Decree No. 216-PGS/PP-PWI/2024 dated June 19, 2024, concerning the Interim Refinement of the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 term.

With the issuance of Decree No. 373-PLP/PP-PWI/2025, the Acting Board of the West Java PWI Provincial Board under Central PWI Board Decree No. 323-PLP/PP-PWI/2025 dated April 22, 2025, is no longer valid.

The lifting of the suspension and reinstatement of the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 term follows a reconciliation process between the Acting Board of the West Java PWI Provincial Board under Central PWI Assignment Letter No. 907/PWI-P/LXXVIII/2025 and the West Java PWI Provincial Board, as documented in the Mediation Report dated July 31, 2025, which agreed to revoke the suspension and restore the board.

Meanwhile, the Central PWI Board has also issued Decree No. 374-PLP/PP-PWI/2025 regarding Changes to the West Java PWI Provincial Board for the 2021-2026 term.

Hilman Hidayat remains the Chair of the West Java PWI Provincial Board. Changes in the daily management include the replacement of Hardiyansyah, S.H. by HRM Dadang Donoroso, S.IP. as Deputy Chair for Regional Development, with Hardiyansyah now serving as Deputy Secretary.

In the Journalists Section, Wawan Ruswana, previously Deputy Secretary, has moved to the Education Journalists Section.

New members have joined the Journalists Section: H. Arihta U. Surbakti, Deddy Julyawan, Herry Setiawan (Advocacy and Journalist Defense Section); H. Taufik Ilyas, Ihsan Mahfudz (Regional Development Section); Asep Syahrial (Welfare Section); Iswan Darsono (Education Section); Mustari (Cooperation Section); Mustafid (Digital Media and Multimedia Section).
