Bekasi – Heavy rain poured down on the city of Bekasi and its surrounding areas yesterday afternoon. A flood warning alarm was activated.
As is known, high-intensity rain poured down on the Jabodetabek area on Tuesday afternoon. Several areas in Bekasi City were inundated.
From video footage uploaded by the Bekasi City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Instagram account on Wednesday, a flood warning alarm could be heard sounding in several riverbank areas.
This flood warning followed an increase in the water surface level in several rivers in the Bekasi City area.
“Warning, there is an increase in the water surface level. Residents are advised to prepare for evacuation,” stated the warning alarm.
The Bekasi City BPBD recorded that the water surface level increase at the Cileungsi-Cikeas Confluence (P2C) river was approximately 525 cm. Meanwhile, the water surface level at the upstream Cikeas River was around 130 cm.
“Status of Upstream Cileungsi and P2C: Alert Level 3,” wrote the Bekasi City BPBD.
Meanwhile, the water level at the Cibongas River was 40 cm and at the Cikeas River was 179 cm.
