Heartwarming news has come from Bandung Zoo. Although closed due to a conflict of dual management since August 6, 2025, the zoo management has shared some happy news.
On July 12, 2025, two Bengal tiger cubs were born to a female tiger named Jelita (4.5 years old) and a male tiger named Shah Rukh Khan (22 years old).
“Yes, they were born on July 12. But it was only announced to the public yesterday,”
Both cubs are male. Now, at 39 days old, both are reported to be in very healthy condition. “On the seventh day, they opened their eyes because they are being nursed directly by their mother. They are not separated in a different enclosure,”
Although the zoo is no longer accepting visitors, the animal care team continues to carry out its duties of caring for the animal collection as usual, including these two tiger cubs, which are receiving special attention.
“We change the straw bedding every three days to keep it dry and clean. The mother is given a combination of chicken and beef every day,”
According to the source, the internal conflict that led to the zoo’s closure has not affected animal care.
“Actually, there are no obstacles; our keepers are still on duty. It’s just that there are no visitors allowed in. The keepers have been working from the first day of the closure until today,”
In addition to the birth of the two tiger cubs, Bandung Zoo is also caring for several other newborn animals, such as a binturong cub, spotted deer, and orangutan. However, the zoo has not yet given official names to the two tiger cubs.
“Later we will hold a naming contest again, but we will wait for the situation to return to normal,”
