The Minister of Housing and Settlements directly reviewed the results of resident home renovations through the Gotong Royong Red and White House Renovation Program in Bojongloa Kaler District, Bandung City, Wednesday (3/9/2025).

This program is a collaboration to provide decent housing for low-income communities.

The minister emphasized that renovating uninhabitable houses is an important part of the national target of the 3 Million Houses Program. This program implements the concepts of Private BSPS and Sharing Economics, where businesses share profits through housing construction without using the state budget.

“The people need real solutions for housing problems, not just discussions in meeting rooms,” the minister stated.

The minister handed over keys to the renovated houses alongside various officials, symbolizing cross-sectoral cooperation to address the housing backlog.

The Governor of West Java conveyed an ambitious target for the next three years: West Java free from slum houses and uninhabitable settlements.

“We are ready to help residents not yet reached by this program using the West Java Provincial Government’s budget,” the governor affirmed.

The Presidential Chief of Staff noted that this program aligns with the President’s priority to reduce poverty through providing decent housing.

“This is real proof of the government, businesses, and the community uniting to build houses for those in need,” the Chief of Staff said.

The Director General of Urban Housing revealed that out of 500 units targeted in Bandung City, 126 units are completed, 54 are under renovation, 200 will start in September and finish in December, and the remaining 120 will be done gradually. Nationally, 4,000 house renovations are being distributed across various regions, with 2,000 in West Java.

“This program ensures low-income communities get more decent and dignified housing,” the Director explained.

The Gotong Royong Red and White House Renovation Program in Bandung serves as a model of collaboration between the government, private sector, and social organizations to accelerate the provision of decent housing, while supporting the national development strategic agenda.
