Persib Bandung secured their place in the 2026/27 Asian club competition after an important 2-1 victory over Persija Jakarta in the 32nd week at Segiri Stadium on Sunday.
The three additional points solidified their position at the top of the standings and guaranteed a spot to represent Indonesia in Asia again next season. This achievement is a significant milestone for the Maung Bandung squad, who have been consistent in the top-tier competition throughout the season.
Although the ticket to Asia is already secured, Persib Bandung’s coach chose to remain focused on the upcoming match against PSM Makassar.
“Let’s play against Makassar first. Next season still has time,” he said.
The Croatian coach seemed determined not to let the players become complacent with what has been achieved. Full focus remains on finishing the remaining two matches to maintain their chances of winning the championship title.
Meanwhile, Persib Bandung’s manager welcomed the team’s successful return to Asian competition. He hopes Persib Bandung will not just be participants but can advance far, even to the final.
“Yes, later we will face Asia, hopefully we can progress step by step. So not just one round or two rounds. Hopefully we can reach the final,” he said.
He also asked for prayers from the fans so that Persib Bandung could sweep the remaining two matches this season, including against PSM Makassar. According to him, positive momentum must be maintained so that Persib Bandung can close the season with the best results.
The successful qualification for Asian competition reaffirms Persib Bandung’s status as one of the most consistent clubs in Indonesia in recent seasons. Fan support and solid team performance are key assets for Persib Bandung to compete at the Asian level next season.
