PT Daya Intiguna Yasa Tbk (MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia, IDX: MDIY) recorded solid business growth in the first quarter of 2026. Amid macroeconomic dynamics, this retail issuer posted revenue of Rp2.4 trillion, up 31.0 percent year-on-year (YoY).
In line with the revenue surge, the company’s net profit also rose by 35.5 percent YoY to Rp306.5 billion. This strong financial performance was accompanied by aggressive expansion, with 56 new stores opened during the first three months of the year, bringing the total MR.D.I.Y. network to 1,278 stores across Indonesia.
The CEO of MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia explained that the value proposition of “Affordable, Complete, and Close” has been the main driver of the company’s business resilience as consumers become increasingly selective in their shopping.
“When consumers are more careful about where they shop, having reliable products in easily accessible locations makes our relevance even stronger,” he said.
This financial success prompted MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia to expand its positive impact on society through non-business avenues. Collaborating with IndoArtNow, the company held a series of art workshops in Bandung as part of promoting its prestigious annual event, the MR.D.I.Y. Art Competition 2026.
Bandung was chosen as a strategic location due to its position as a national creative industry hub with a strong art community ecosystem. The workshop series was also held in Jakarta, Kudus, and Yogyakarta until May 18, 2026.
The Head of Marketing for MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia emphasized that the company’s success is not only measured by business growth figures but also by its tangible contribution to developing the potential of the nation’s youth.
“Through this art competition, we are not only providing a platform for creative expression but also opening golden opportunities for local artists to be recognized on the international stage,” she said.
Bridge to the Regional Stage
With the theme “Strength and Resilience,” this year’s competition challenges participants to express the spirit of adaptation and resilience through local cultural heritage. The event is open to professional, general, and student categories, with total prizes reaching Rp370,000,000.
Notably, this year Indonesia has been trusted to host the Southeast Asian regional level, which will bring together winning works from three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Registration for the competition is still open online through the company’s official website until June 30, 2026.
In Bandung, the workshop was held at two leading art institutions: FSRD at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and FPSD at the Indonesia University of Education (UPI). The mentoring session featured the Creative Director of the Jakarta Illustration & Creative Arts Fair (JICAF), who presented material titled “Talent is not Career.”
“This competition gives young talents confidence that their work deserves to be appreciated on a larger stage,” he said.
Looking ahead, the company’s management is optimistic that the growth space for modern retail in Indonesia remains very large, especially in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The Director and Chief Financial Officer of MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia added that financial discipline remains a top priority amid this massive expansion.
The company’s balance sheet is increasingly healthy, with a gearing ratio maintained at 0.3x. This underscores management’s ability to manage operational costs efficiently and sustainably.
By providing affordable creativity tools in its thousands of stores—ranging from illustration media and canvases to various types of paint—MR.D.I.Y. hopes to continue being an inclusive ecosystem that supports the creative industry while delivering long-term value to shareholders.
