Two girls, identified by the initials KY and SO, each about 11 years old, drowned in the Ciseel River in Bantardawa Village, Purwadadi District, Ciamis Regency, West Java, on Friday (June 5, 2026) at around 2:20 PM local time.
The two victims were suspected to be playing and bathing in the Ciseel River before they were allegedly swept away by the current and drowned.
The Head of the Ciamis Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Ani Supiani, confirmed the incident. Based on a report from the Purwadadi District Head, the two children were known to be in the river area before the incident.
“Based on the report from the district head, while in the river, the two victims were allegedly swept away by the current and drowned, so they could not save themselves,” Ani said.

The two victims were eventually found and immediately taken to the Purwadadi Health Center. However, their lives could not be saved.
“Both died,” Ani explained.
It was known that the two victims were playmates and lived as neighbors. After the handling process was completed, the victims’ bodies were taken by their respective families to funeral homes for burial.
3 Months Renting in Sentul City, Former BGN Boss Makes Neighbors Often Complain
The two-story luxury house without a fence on Jalan Alpen Rossa No. 19, Hilltop Cluster, Sentul City, Bogor Regency, initially did not attract much attention from residents. However, in the last three months, the house suddenly became busy with visitors almost every working day.
The intensity of vehicles entering and leaving the area began to disturb the comfort of nearby residents. Complaints were made several times to the neighborhood security officers.
“Many cars came, so residents complained several times,” said a security officer on duty in the area on Friday (June 5, 2026).
It was later revealed that the house was rented by the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana. This information emerged after investigators from the Attorney General’s Office conducted a search at the location in the early hours of Wednesday (June 3, 2026).
The security officer admitted to accompanying the search process conducted by several investigators. At that time, the group arrived using two vehicles and was accompanied by two armed military personnel.
He said the investigators searched several rooms and confiscated documents from inside the house.
“They just searched, took papers and books from the rooms,” he said.
The search also revealed the identity of the house’s occupant. For several months prior, neither the security officers nor the surrounding residents knew exactly who had rented the house.
Activity at the house became noticeable shortly after Eid al-Fitr in 2026. Since then, guests came and went continuously, making the atmosphere at the location different from other residences around it.
“Before, we didn’t know who was renting,” the security officer said.
He estimated that the house began to be occupied around March 2026. Since that period, the flow of vehicles heading to the location increased, especially on working days, triggering complaints from residents.
