Bandung

A drug smuggling attempt was again thwarted by officers at the Class IIA Banceuy Correctional Facility in Bandung. Once again, methamphetamine was smuggled through the anus, with the illegal substance wrapped in a condom, on Monday (June 8, 2026).

This desperate act was carried out by a man identified by the initial F. The illegal substance was intended to be handed over to an inmate at the facility.

The drug smuggling was detected by officers because F exhibited suspicious behavior. The Head of Security at the Class IIA Banceuy Correctional Facility stated that before entering, F underwent an inspection according to the standard operating procedures in place at the facility.

“His behavior was indeed suspicious from the front when entering; there might also be CCTV footage of it. When entering inside, during the inspection, he appeared anxious,” said the official to the media.

The official revealed that when officers were about to inspect F’s genital area, a contraceptive device was seen protruding from his anus. After an examination of the anal area, the hidden drugs were indeed found.

“We then secured here 19.14 grams of narcotics suspected to be methamphetamine,” he stated.

F has been detained. The facility has also coordinated with the West Java Provincial National Narcotics Agency and the Bandung City Police Narcotics Unit to follow up on the drug discovery.

When visiting the facility, F was not alone but went with the mother of an inmate who was serving a sentence. F knew the inmate but was not a family member.

The authorities are also investigating whether the inmate’s mother was aware of F’s plan to smuggle the drugs.

“The mother is also being examined along with the individual; it is feared that the mother may also have known that the individual was hiding or smuggling this methamphetamine into his anus or buttocks,” he explained.

The official confirmed that the method of smuggling drugs inserted into the anus is not the first time it has been found by officers at Banceux Prison. Attempts at smuggling using this method have occurred several times before, carried out by both male and female visitors.

“Yes, so this has happened many times, both in men and women. On average, it’s because this internal body part is probably considered safe,” he explained.

To anticipate the entry of prohibited items, Banceuy Prison has a layered inspection system to prevent various smuggling methods into the facility. Inspections are carried out starting from scanning using X-ray machines to physical searches of visitors.

“Female officers inspect female visitors, while male visitors are inspected by male officers,” he concluded.
