SURABAYA – The Governor of East Java is currently undergoing questioning by investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters on Thursday (10/7/2025).
The top official in East Java is being questioned as a witness in a suspected corruption case involving community group grants from the East Java Provincial Budget for 2021–2022. The Governor arrived at the East Java Police Headquarters around 10:00 AM local time in a black Innova with license plate W 3349 YS.
The Governor’s arrival went unnoticed by the media. The Governor entered the police headquarters through the back lobby of the Patuh Building, which connects directly to the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate.
The Governor’s presence at the East Java Police Headquarters was confirmed. The Governor was accompanied by representatives from the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) East Java chapter. “The Governor is being questioned by five KPK investigators. The questioning is taking place on the third floor of the interrogation room,” said the head of MAKI East Java.
The Governor is reportedly ready to undergo questioning and answer the KPK investigators’ questions. According to sources, in this grant case, the Governor only approved and signed the documents, while the actual responsibility lies more with the East Java Provincial Budget Team.
“Accompanying the Governor during the questioning is the Head of the Government Administration and Regional Autonomy Bureau (former Head of the Legal Bureau),” the source explained.
For reference, the KPK is investigating a suspected bribery case involving community group grants from the East Java Provincial Budget for 2019–2022. In this case, the KPK has named 21 individuals as suspects, though their identities have not yet been disclosed.
