Over 1.1 million duplicate names found in Mumbai voter list, with many voters registered multiple times. The objection deadline has been extended to December 3 and the final list will be published on December 10. Opposition parties have alleged irregularities, while signs of election delays are also emerging.

According to Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) data, approximately 10.64% of Mumbai’s 10.3 million voters, meaning over 1.1 million voters, have duplicate names in the voter list. The SEC has extended the objection filing deadline from November 27 to December 3. According to a commission statement, the final voter list will be published on December 10. 433,000 voters are registered more than once, with one voter’s name confirmed to be registered 103 times. Officials stated that printing errors, voter relocation, and failure to remove names of deceased individuals are the reasons for this duplication.
