Amidst the ongoing conflict, will there be another lockdown in India? Ever since the Prime Minister’s appeal in Parliament to ‘be prepared’ while discussing the Corona situation, people have been spreading all sorts of information on social media. Following the major decision this morning to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, the government has also clarified the situation regarding a lockdown. The Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas has stated on behalf of the government that the rumors circulating about a lockdown are completely false. I wish to clarify that no such proposal is under consideration at the government level.
He said that in such times it is essential for all of us to remain calm, responsible, and united. Spreading rumors and creating an atmosphere of unnecessary fear in such a situation is irresponsible and harmful. In fact, over the past 24 to 48 hours, such claims were being made in social media posts and some videos. Subsequently, the government addressed each and every concern.

He wrote in English, ‘Rumours of a lockdown in India are completely false. Let me state this clearly, there is no such proposal under consideration by the Government of India.’ This statement makes it clear that some people are trying to spread panic by talking about a lockdown. The Prime Minister had already cautioned in Parliament that some people would try to take advantage of this situation. Government agencies are taking action against such people.
The Petroleum Minister of the government has stated that the global situation remains uncertain and we are continuously monitoring the situation related to energy, supply chains, and essential commodities. He said, ‘Under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the government is ensuring that the supply of fuel, energy, and other essential items in the country continues without any interruption. We are fully prepared to tackle every possible challenge.’ The Minister said that India has previously demonstrated its resilience amidst global uncertainties, and we will continue to take timely, proactive, and coordinated steps going forward.
