Now, on May 25, in the late afternoon at Rasina Hills, the Padma award was presented to Tollywood’s ‘eldest son’. On the other hand, it was also announced that the legendary Dharmendra would be posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Hema Malini accepted the Padma award on behalf of the late actor.

Keeping these contributions in mind, the Tollywood superstar has been honored. During a difficult time for Bengali cinema, ‘Bumba’ took almost all the responsibility on his shoulders. Through him, commercial films reached every household in rural Bengal. Throughout his entire film career, he has acted in over three and a half hundred films. In 1968, he made his debut as a child artist in the film ‘Chotto Jigyasa’, directed by his father Biswajit Chatterjee. He emerged as the hero of Bengali cinema through ‘Amarsangi’. Then, over the past four decades of his acting career, overcoming many ups and downs, he has led Tollywood forward like a guardian.
