CPM candidate Sayan Bandyopadhyay has been informed of the incident and is monitoring it. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Tamonath Bhowmik suspects a conspiracy behind the incident, claiming, “The fire was set to vacate the shanties.” As a result, train services on the Budge Budge-Sealdah division remain suspended. Regarding this, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway, Shivaram Majhi, stated, “We have temporarily halted train services. Railway teams are working. We aim to restore normal rail services as quickly as possible.” He further added, “There are several settlements along railway tracks under Eastern Railway’s jurisdiction, where various incidents, both big and small, occur. This impacts train operations. The railway is conducting drives to address the issue.”
