Hyderabad, Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka today reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to transforming public universities into centers of excellence and fostering an environment of intellectual freedom while participating in the anniversary celebrations of the University College of Arts and Social Sciences at Osmania University.

According to the press release, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the crucial role of freedom of expression in a democratic society. He stated that the free expression of ideas and ideologies is paramount above all rights. He expressed regret that Telangana, born out of struggle, has been deprived of the very freedom it fought for over the past decade.

Public March Experience Strengthened Government’s Resolve for Change

Recalling the public march, where he personally witnessed and understood the struggles of the people, he reiterated the government’s resolve to bring change. The people’s government has opened its doors to all ideologies and ensured freedom. Control and pressure are not our government’s policy.

In his address, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that Osmania University has held a prestigious position since its inception and embodies the essence of Telangana’s culture. He outlined the government’s ambitious plans to develop public universities as skill-based knowledge hubs.

Skill Universities and Training Institutes for Youth

Bhatti announced the establishment of a skill university and highlighted efforts to equip youth with employable skills through advanced training institutes. He also confirmed upcoming faculty recruitments in universities. He stated that to enhance global competitiveness, the government is providing all students with opportunities to study in English.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that we are preparing our education system to compete globally. He urged students from disadvantaged backgrounds not to neglect their education but to study diligently and contribute to the development of Telangana and the nation.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the Congress government is focusing on two key pillars: education and healthcare. He also announced the launch of sports and integrated residential schools across the state, saying this initiative will transform Telangana’s landscape. Acknowledging Osmania University’s historic contributions, he said the government is clearing all pending dues for public universities.

The event, chaired by Osmania University’s Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the academic and cultural journey of the Arts College. Heads of various departments, faculty, non-teaching staff, researchers, and a large number of students participated in the program.

University College of Arts and Social Sciences
