Order to remove encroachments in Bagalingampalli Housing Board.
Hyderabad, The Telangana High Court has ordered GHMC officials to take immediate action to remove encroachments on roads, parks, open spaces, and footpaths in colonies built by the Housing Board in Baglingampally, Hyderabad.
The court also clarified that there is no need to issue notices for the encroachment works and directed that action be taken against officials who have encouraged encroachments over the past few years. The process must be completed within one month, and a compliance report must be submitted to the High Court registry.
L. Arun Kumar and 13 others filed a petition in the High Court after no action was taken despite written complaints regarding encroachments on the western and northern roads of HIG-2 in Baglingampally, Hyderabad. Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the High Court recently heard these petitions.
Lack of action on encroachments turns a good colony into a slum
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel argued that encroachers had built temporary structures on the road leading to Chikkadpally main road on the west side. Additionally, due to a toilet built there, the entire road is filled with dirty water, which is being drained onto the road.
N.V. Shravan Kumar stated that officials did not respond to the complaint made in December last year, forcing the petitioners to approach the court. After hearing the arguments, the judge remarked that the Baglingampally Housing Board colony is an example of how a good colony turned into a slum due to inaction despite complaints about encroachments.
After examining the photographs submitted by the petitioners, GHMC officials were ordered to take immediate action to remove the encroachments. The judge said the order would apply to the removal of encroachments on all roads and parks in the Baglingampally Housing Board. Concluding the hearing, it was stated that if there are any objections to these orders, an application for modification can be filed.
