Hyderabad, Achieving a major milestone in digital governance, the Telangana government launched a paperless report card initiative for students in government schools. Under this innovation, academic performance reports of over 1.8 million students from classes 5 to 9 in government schools across the state were sent directly to their parents’ WhatsApp numbers. According to available information, this initiative is a significant step toward reducing the distance between school administration and parents, and making communication more transparent.
We are saving families’ time and resources
Operated through the Mee-Seva platform under the Department of Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, this system ensures that students’ important academic data reaches parents in a secure and swift manner. These digital report cards include subject-wise scores and detailed attendance records of students. By adopting this paperless model, the government eliminated the difficulties parents faced in having to personally visit schools to collect progress reports.
State Minister of IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu described this initiative as proof of Telangana’s leadership in digital governance. He stated that the goal is to ensure that the benefits of technology reach every student and parent directly. By distributing report cards through WhatsApp, we are saving families’ time and resources. He added that this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to making public services transparent, fast, and accessible.
