Tamil NaduA recent stampede in Karu district of Tamil Nadu has shaken the entire state. This accident resulted in several deaths and dozens of injuries. Following the incident, the state government immediately took notice and formed a high-level inquiry committee. The investigation into the Karur stampede has been entrusted to a committee chaired by retired High Court Justice Aruna Jagadeesan. On Monday, the retired Justice visited Karur Civil Hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured.
Meanwhile, CM Stalin said today that further action will be taken after receiving the committee’s investigation report. Furthermore, new rules will be created for public events (rallies and gatherings) organized by political parties and other organizations.
On Monday, BJP National President JP Nadda formed an 8-member NDA delegation which will visit Karur. Mathura MP Hema Malini has been appointed as the delegation’s convener. Anurag Thakur and Tejasvi Surya are also part of it.
The stampede occurred on the evening of September 27th during an election rally for actor Vijay’s political party, TVK. So far, 41 people have died. The deceased include 18 women, 13 men, and 10 children. 95 people are injured, of whom 51 are admitted to the ICU.
