Weather Update: An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai districts in Tamil Nadu due to the possibility of heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chennai and some parts of Tamil Nadu and has advised people to check weather updates before leaving home.
IMD stated that the heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu is due to a low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast. According to the Thiruvananthapuram Meteorological Centre’s warning, a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for the entire state of Kerala.
As per IMD’s warning, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places in Villupuram, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
Orange Alert Issued in Tiruvarur (Weather Update)
It is forecast that Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Puducherry, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari will receive very heavy rainfall, while an Orange Alert has been issued today for Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for other locations including Thoothukudi, Madurai, Nilgiri, and Shivaganga. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has also been issued for the entire state of Kerala. An ‘Orange Alert’ is in effect today for Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai, while a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for other locations including Thoothukudi, Madurai, Nilgiri, and Shivaganga.
