Cyclone Fengal: A warning has been issued that a deep depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal could soon turn into Cyclone Fengal. It is expected to make landfall on the morning of November 30 between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram on the northern coasts of Tamil Nadu-Puducherry.

The weather department has stated that as the cyclone makes landfall, winds will blow at a speed of 50-60 kilometers per hour, which could potentially increase to 70 kilometers per hour. Currently, the cyclone is located near Trincomalee and is moving in a north-northwest direction crossing the coast of Sri Lanka.

Due to the cyclone, heavy rainfall is forecasted in Puducherry leading to the closure of schools and colleges. There is a looming threat of flooding in low-lying areas. Instructions have been issued to evacuate people to relief camps and safe areas, and a 24-hour control room has been established.
