Two people have been arrested from Gujarat’s Surendranagar district for their alleged involvement in a cyber fraud case where a woman in Delhi was cheated out of seven lakh rupees.

The accused have been identified as Shoebbhai Multani (24) and Aslambhai Multani (37). Both were reportedly part of a network that arranged bank accounts for fraud and withdrew the cheated money on commission.

Shoebbhai works as a salesman at a tractor company, while Aslambhai Multani (37) runs a dairy farm.

The case came to light when a nursing officer at a government hospital complained that she received a call on July 19 claiming her name had appeared in a money laundering case. The caller, posing as an official, kept her under video surveillance and tricked her into transferring seven lakh rupees to a bank account.

Following her complaint, a First Information Report was filed. During the investigation, authorities discovered that 30 percent of the defrauded amount was sent to an account in Jharkhand, while the remaining 70 percent was sent to an account in Gujarat.

CCTV footage from a bank in Surendranagar showed one of the accused withdrawing money via a check. The arrests were made during raids in Jharkhand and Gujarat. Another accused, Jitendra Kumar from Jharkhand, had already been arrested in this case.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
