According to Election Commission sources, Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Archana Patnaik said during a press conference in Chennai that this time there is a possibility of higher voter turnout than usual. For this grand democratic festival, over 1.06 lakh EVM machines have been deployed across the state. The administration has made adequate arrangements to ensure voting is completed peacefully, which will determine the state’s political future in the coming times.

Crores of cash seized and strict police deployment: Election Commission’s tough action

According to media reports, since the model code of conduct came into effect, cash and valuables worth 1,262 crore rupees have been seized so far, of which 543 crore rupees have already been deposited in the treasury. For election duty, 1,20,000 police personnel and 3,40,000 government staff have been deployed. Special teams have been formed to monitor social media, with 163 cases registered so far and 2,180 internet links blocked.

Voter demographics: Over 14 lakh young voters will vote for the first time

According to local details, Tamil Nadu has a total of over 5.73 crore voters. Among them, the number of female voters is 2.93 crore and male voters is 2.80 crore. Surprisingly, this time there are 14,59,039 voters who will exercise their franchise for the first time. The Election Commission has established 62 counting centers. Additionally, 7,728 third-gender voters will also be part of this democratic process, indicating an inclusive election.

Political equations: Strong possibility of a three-way contest
