New Delhi, April 21. A massive explosion occurred at a firecracker manufacturing unit in the Mundathikkodu area of Thrissur district, Kerala, on Tuesday, resulting in 12 deaths and several injuries. PM Modi expressed grief over the incident and announced compensation. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed all government departments to remain on alert.
The PMO posted on social media platform ‘X’ stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident. The Prime Minister said he was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of life and property in the accident at a firecracker factory in Thrissur, Kerala. My condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.
Additionally, the Prime Minister announced compensation for the deceased and injured. According to information provided by the PMO, each deceased’s family will receive 2 lakh rupees from the PMNRF, and the injured will receive 50,000 rupees.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed all government departments to be fully prepared to provide medical assistance following the firecracker explosion in Thrissur. He spoke with the Chief Secretary and, after reviewing the situation, instructed that expert doctors from outside the state be called in if needed for treating burn victims.
The Chief Minister also expressed condolences for the deceased. A rescue operation is ongoing under a special monitoring system coordinated by the police, fire and rescue, health, revenue, and disaster management departments.
Congress MP and General Secretary KC Venugopal also expressed grief over the incident. He posted on social media platform ‘X’ saying he was shocked to hear about the explosion at the firecracker factory in Thrissur, which occurred just days before the Pooram festival. He was extremely saddened to hear of the deaths of several people. His condolences and prayers are with the victims and their families in this time of grief.
He further stated that the government should make every possible effort for rescue operations and that all injured should be provided with necessary medical assistance as soon as possible.
