The film ‘Peddi’, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, is set to release on June 4, and its producers have completed the censor process ahead of time. This report details the cuts recommended by the censor board for the film.
‘Peddi’ has been given a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification. However, the producers were asked to make some changes. Obscene words like ‘Laudesh’, ‘Bokka’, ‘Lambadi Kodaka’ were instructed to be muted or replaced. In the song ‘Chikiri Chikiri’, the words ‘Saruku Saman’ were to be altered. In the second part, the word ‘Rajasthan’ and a reference to a community were ordered to be removed.
Fortunately, no visual cuts were imposed on the film. In other words, the action and violent scenes remain intact. Only a middle finger shot was requested to be covered with CG visuals.
After these changes, the censor certificate was handed over to the producers of ‘Peddi’ on May 22. The film’s length mentioned on the certificate is 189.00 minutes. That means ‘Peddi’ is 3 hours and 9 minutes long.
‘Peddi’ stars Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiv Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu, Boman Irani, and other artists. The film is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, and produced by Venkat Satish Kilaru. Oscar winner A. R. Rahman composed the songs. Geo Studio will handle distribution in North India. The film will also release in IMAX format.
At the trailer launch, Ram Charan said, “For the last 25-30 days, we were shooting wrestling and pehlwan sequences. I told our director Buchi Babu Sana to bring trained artists, but he brought real wrestlers. While shooting, I tore a ligament, but that is okay. It is fitting, and it is a beautiful memory of ‘Peddi’.”
