Surat district has seen a sharp rise in snakebite cases during the monsoon, but the prompt response of the 108 emergency service saved 132 lives in two months. While 56 cases were reported in June, the number rose to 76 in July.

Operated by EMRI Green Health Services, the 108 service remains ready to assist people even in challenging conditions. Whether it’s heavy rain, heat, or cold—108 staff arrive on time at the incident site to provide victims with essential first aid and life-saving injections such as antivenom and hydrocortisone.

These injections stabilize the victim’s condition before transporting them to the nearest hospital for further treatment. The 108 service has proven to be a powerful lifesaver against snakebites.
