Mehbooba Mufti slams Omar Abdullah in Pulwama rally: In Jammu and Kashmir, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti dismissed the notion that the Iran-US talks have failed, saying, “The time will surely come when these talks will bear fruit. We should pray. We should be patient.” The PDP chief said during a public rally in Pulwama that the talks between the US and Iran should not be seen as a failure. She described these talks as a complex and long-drawn process, where results take time. Mehbooba Mufti said, “I do not consider it a failure, but a beginning. It is a complex issue. It has been going on for many years and such a big struggle has been fought for it. If you think a solution will emerge overnight, I do not agree with that.”
Praising Iran’s stance, she said, “I believe Iran has once again shown its courage and stood firmly on its principles. America wanted Iran to hand over everything it had achieved in this conflict. These were achievements gained through the martyrdom of its 150 children, the sacrifices of its leaders, and the blood of its people. How could that be possible?”
Expressing happiness, she said, “I am happy that Iran stood its ground and America had to return empty-handed. We should not lose hope and should keep praying and be patient until the results of the talks come out.”
Mufti said, “The talks are not over. In the 15-day ceasefire that has been implemented, we will certainly see some ups and downs and twists and turns. Whenever any talks begin, usually both sides adopt a tough stance. Iran and America have done exactly that.”
Expressing hope that good results could eventually come from the talks, she said, “Still, I hope America, and to tell the truth, the whole world wants these talks to succeed so that the Strait of Hormuz can reopen. The global economy has stalled, oil and gas prices are skyrocketing, and trade has completely stopped. I think that, sooner or later when the right time comes, these talks will surely bear fruit; for that to happen, we should pray and be patient.”
Her comments come amid reports that the latest round of talks between Washington and Tehran concluded without reaching any concrete outcome.
The latest round of talks between the US and Iran ended without any formal agreement, with both sides sticking to their positions on key issues such as nuclear commitments and sanctions. However, neither side has ruled out the possibility of future talks.
Mehbooba lashes out at Omar Abdullah
Speaking about Jammu and Kashmir, the PDP president strongly criticized the National Conference (NC) and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, targeting his administration’s record and his alleged silence on recent crises.
Mufti said, “Omar Abdullah has always remained silent on issues concerning the common people of Jammu and Kashmir.” She alleged that instead of addressing people’s grievances, the Chief Minister has always been busy and engrossed in criticizing her party, the PDP.
Mufti said, “It is very disappointing that he has always remained silent, be it a local issue, national, or international. The delay in condemning the US-Israeli attacks on Iran and the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei is disappointing.”
She emphasized that despite being the only Muslim Chief Minister of India’s only Muslim-majority state, it takes Omar Abdullah nearly a month to voice his opinion on any issue.
