Addis Ababa, April 26, 2026 The Minister of Industry stated that the government is focusing its efforts on the manufacturing sector to establish a solid foundation for Ethiopia’s economy.
During his speech at the “Ethiopia Tamrit” (Made in Ethiopia) 10-kilometer race, held at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, the minister emphasized the government’s interest in expanding industrial capacities and supporting local products.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Culture and Sports, the Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, and the President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation.
The minister said the race was designed to promote locally manufactured sports equipment and highlight the growing capabilities of local industries.
He added: “The government is working with a clear focus on the manufacturing sector to build a solid economic foundation,” noting that reforms implemented in recent years have begun to yield tangible results.
The minister affirmed the continuation of efforts to enhance the sector’s contribution to the national economy and deepen industrial transformation.
For her part, the Minister of Culture and Sports highlighted parallel investments in the sports sector, noting that expanding infrastructure has created broader opportunities for youth participation and development.
The Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa also pointed to the significant progress the city has made in its industrial sector, explaining that reforms have boosted production capacity and supported the city’s role in driving national industrial development.
