The Great Hall of the People is a state building located on the western edge of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It was constructed in 1959 and serves as the meeting place for China’s legislative bodies, including the National People’s Congress. The massive structure is also used for political and diplomatic events, such as hosting foreign leaders.
