Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as “Meilan Airport”) has launched the “Chongqing ⇋ Haikou ⇋ Auckland” international passenger route, which will facilitate economic, trade, and cultural exchanges among the three cities.
The “Chongqing ⇋ Haikou ⇋ Auckland” route is operated by Hainan Airlines using Boeing 787 wide-body aircraft, with one flight every Thursday and Saturday. The outbound flight HU785 departs from Chongqing at 21:55 Beijing time, lands in Haikou at 00:25 the next day, takes off from Haikou at 2:55, and arrives in Auckland at 18:10 local time. The return flight HU786 departs from Auckland at 20:45 local time, lands in Haikou at 5:00 Beijing time the next day, takes off from Haikou at 7:30, and arrives in Chongqing at 9:50.
Since 2025, Meilan Airport has opened nine new international and regional routes, including Haikou ⇋ Tokyo, Haikou ⇋ Osaka, Haikou ⇋ London, Hangzhou ⇋ Haikou ⇋ Jakarta, and Haikou ⇋ Jeddah. In the future, routes such as Changchun ⇋ Haikou ⇋ Singapore and Haikou ⇋ Jakarta will also be launched, continuously expanding domestic and international route coverage and flight frequency.

Haikou Meilan International Airport is the primary airport serving Haikou, the capital of China’s Hainan province. It was opened in 1999, replacing the older Haikou Dayingshan Airport, to accommodate the island’s growing tourism and economic development. The airport is a major gateway to Hainan and is classified as a large-scale regional hub.
