On the morning of April 15, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of the State Xi Jinping held talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of the State To Lam in the East Hall of the Great Hall of the People. Listening to the opening remarks of the talks on site, one can perceive three distinctive aspects.

Great Hall of the People

The Great Hall of the People is a monumental state building located on the western side of Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China. Completed in 1959, it was constructed in just ten months as one of the “Ten Great Buildings” to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It serves as the principal meeting hall for China’s legislature, the National People’s Congress, and hosts major political events and diplomatic receptions.

East Hall

East Hall is a historic building located on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Constructed in 1856, it is the university’s oldest standing structure and originally served as a classroom and laboratory building. It is a designated Michigan State Historic Site and is notable for its role in early American science education, including housing the university’s first medical lectures.
