Domestic films accounted for 98.93% of the box office. The top five films by box office were: “Volunteers: Blood and Peace,” “731,” “Assassin in Love 2,” “Wandering Life,” and “Deafening.”
With the combined boost from popular new releases and well-received older films, China’s total film market box office during the 2025 National Day season quickly surpassed the full-year 2024 box office performance, reaching 43.789 billion yuan, an increase of 18.98% year-on-year. Total admissions also exceeded 1 billion, showing continued strong market heat.
As the final chapter of a trilogy, “Volunteers: Blood and Peace” secured the top spot in daily box office rankings from its opening day, maintaining the number one position for 9 consecutive days. Its current box office has exceeded 480 million yuan, bringing the total box office for the “Volunteers” series to over 2.5 billion yuan.

“Assassin in Love 2” returned after four years, with upgraded fantasy elements and special effects meeting many viewers’ expectations. On its opening day, the film earned over 63 million yuan, securing the second place in daily box office, and finished the season with nearly 300 million yuan in total box office.

“731” continued to show strong market performance during the National Day season. For most days excluding the collective opening day of new films, it consistently held the second position in the box office rankings. After this golden holiday season, “731” has surpassed 1.86 billion yuan in total box office, currently ranking fourth in the 2025 annual box office chart.

The six new National Day releases “Wandering Life,” “Deafening,” “Starry Sky of the Three Kingdoms Part 1,” “Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain,” “Bi Zhengming’s Proof,” and “GG Bond: An Old Pig’s Counterattack” ranked fourth to ninth in the seasonal box office chart respectively.
Among them, “Deafening,” which focuses on the hearing-impaired community, had the latest release date on October 4th and has already earned over 170 million yuan.

The film market showed strong momentum, with “film+” integrated consumption expanding beyond box office data, becoming an important engine for holiday consumption growth.
